On Saturday, November 23rd, Lucas Langlois exults. After a run that earned him 59.78 points, the Valentinois is crowned 2019 world wakeboard champion. Under the blazing sun of Abu Dhabi, the Drômois savoured a title that he never imagined he would add to his list of achievements. After long months of injuries and doubts, Lucas Langlois is propelled to the forefront of the international scene.
I was born and raised in Valencia. I started gymnastics at the age of 7/8 before discovering wakeboarding at the age of 12/13. I quickly started competing in wakeboarding, which gradually began to take precedence over gymnastics. I studied in staps before joining a physiotherapy school in Bègles near Bordeaux where I now live. During these years of training I travelled a lot: USA, Australia, Thailand and so on, for training or competitions. It allowed me to discover other cultures and to meet riders from all over the world, which always helps to progress and keep motivation.
Favourite spots for wakeboarding
In France I would say at home, in Valence, on Le Bras mort du Rhône, because it’s the spot of my beginnings and that’s where I feel the best to ride. Otherwise abroad I’ve ridden a lot of great places but probably Orlando, Florida is the best place to ride. Big boat, great coach and good conditions!
In cable, the exotic park 33 in Baurech to Bordeaux is great!
