PASSION // 70 YEARS... THE STORY IS ONLY BEGINNING1950 // A Dive Into History! As an optician but also a professional diver, Roger Demetz has two passions as well as a dream: to improve vision underwater. In 1953, he created the first optical diving mask. In 1950, he opened his optical shop in the rue Diderot (Paris) which quickly became a landmark for divers. A success that encouraged Roger Demetz to perfect his porthole mask and to propose in 1968 the first optic swimming goggles.

1988 // From Ski Goggles to KitesurfingGilles Demetz, himself an optician, took over from his father in 1988 and, in contact with sportsmen and women from all horizons, has to meet ever-increasing demands by imagining and designing new innovative eyewear dedicated to different sports (motorcycling, shooting, team sports, skiing, kitesurfing, etc.). Optimizing performance by improving vision: the concept of "sports eyewear" was born. Thus for years, the Demetz company has been imagining and perfecting its models to make them more and more efficient, ergonomic and design.

2015 // Together, let's look furtherIn 2015, François Fort (Opal) and Gilles Demetz decided to join forces by combining Demetz's technical expertise with Opal's marketing and sales force. From this merger was born the first optical collection for children in 2016, as well as the first Super-Hero ski goggles under the Opal Frozen, Star Wars and Hello Kitty Licenses. 65 years old, the story has only just begun...

2017 // To place oneself in the eyes of the athleteFor 65 years, Demetz has put itself in the place of the sportsman in order to improve visual acuity, protect sight and accompany him in his performance. A mission which continues thanks to a collection of more than 200 models of masks and glasses, both light and resistant, adapted to each public: children, teenagers, amateur and professional sportsmen and women. 8 times awarded (Silmo d'Or), the Demetz brand is today the reference for sportsmen and women who want to combine sporting and visual sensations.
